Discovery Week
Dear Editor: Blatchley is feeling the love of the community as we prepare for Discovery Week and this letter is only the beginning of our expressing our thanks for the sharing and support we receive. Thank you to the following people who have donated either online at our www.generosity.com campaign or directly to the school to enable Discovery Week classes: Jerry and Richelle Murphy, John and Amy Sweeney, Sheri Buggins, Laura Schmidt, Jeanine Brooks, Judy Sagel, Courtney Wimmer, Lanis Beach, Miranda Littlefield, Frances Alderson, Kristen Homer, Kay Turner, Barbara Webb, Kealoha Harmon, Elizabeth Warren, Mary Wegner, Lauren Allen, and Ian Crane. We thank the many anonymous donors whose generosity nonetheless shines through.
We would also like to thank Sheri Buggins for her generous donation as part of the Alaska Airlines employee giving plan.
We appreciate our volunteer teachers and would like to highlight two of them in this letter for their participation in Discovery Week since our beginning in 2011: Emily Davis of re:fresh Fitness and Melinda McAdams of the Sitka Studio of Dance. Emily is a tireless supporter of the Sitka School District and Mt. Edgecumbe High School and an ever positive advocate and example for health and fitness in our community. Melinda McAdams, to use the words of Agnes DeMille, helps our students to become “larger, more beautiful, and more powerful…” through teaching, directing, choreographing, producing, and spreading her love of dance. Thank you.
