Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

January 12

At 12:58 a.m. a woman who was intoxicated called police to make accusations.

At 12:58 a.m. an incident of drunkenness on Marine Street was reported.

At 7:28 a.m. a caller said a person in the 300 block of Lincoln Street appeared to have an open container. Officers found no alcohol.

At 8:16 a.m. a caller reported problems with the pedestrian crossing light at Blatchley Middle School. DOT was notified.

A caller complained residents were putting their trash in the city bins at Crescent Harbor, taking up space needed by the harbor department.

A caller complained about a taxi fare. He was advised of his options.

A dispute was reported over rights to a house. The matter was to be taken to court.

At 12:53 p.m. two women were reported punching each other at Hemlock and HPR. The two left together in a vehicle before police arrived.

At 1:51 p.m. a person was reported sleeping in a vehicle on Burkhart Street. However, the vehicle left before police arrived.

At 4:54 p.m. police were called to help wildlife troopers with a dead deer on Peter Simpson Road.

At 6:45 p.m. a vehicle was reported stuck on Herring Cove Road, interfering with DOT’s clearing of the area.

At 9:23 p.m. three Christmas trees were reported in the roadway at Indian River Road and SMC, and at 9:34 p.m. a single Christmas tree was reported in the road near the Post Office, posing a traffic hazard. The trees were removed.

January 13

At 1:55 a.m. a caller reported receiving a strange text. Officers investigated and found nothing criminal.

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Wednesday and one early today.
