The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.

January 12

At 6:50 a.m. vandalism was reported done to the restroom at Whale Park, with litter spread and an attempt made to start a fire.

At 12:06 p.m. citizen contact was made at Sitka High School.

At 12:24 p.m. a welfare check was requested in the 2300 block of HPR.

A protective order was served at a hotel.

At 9 p.m. a caller reported that his vehicle, parked in the driveway, had been damaged in a hit and run in the 2000 block of SMC.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Thursday.

   

In Court

Aleksei Anotoly Wilson, 36, on an Aug. 4, 2022, charge of reckless driving was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $1,000, suspended. Probation was set at one year.

Joshua V. Kowalczewski, 32, of Kongiganak, on a March 2, 2022, charge of reckless driving was sentenced to 60 days, suspended, and fined $1,000 with $500 suspended. He will be on probation for one year.

Stephanie Lynn Moreno, 46, on a March 8, 2022, charge of criminal mischief (property damage $250-$749) was sentenced to 90 days with all but time served suspended, and fined $500, suspended. On a March 29, 2022, charge of violating conditions of release for a misdemeanor she was sentenced to 10 days, suspended. She is to be on probation for one year. Charges of assault in the fourth degree, interfering with a report of a domestic violence crime, and violating conditions of release for a felony were dismissed by the prosecution.

Henry T. Beadle, 60, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, on a fish ticket violation was fined $500.

Charles John Yearwood, 57, on a fish ticket violation was fined $500, suspended.

 

Coast Guard

A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter crew on Thursday medevacked a 22-year-old man with a dental infection from Haines to Juneau for further care.

Juneau District called the Air Station at 6:50 p.m. and the helicopter took off soon afterward. After picking up the patient, the helicopter arrived in Juneau at 10:19 p.m.
