Police Blotter
Sitka police logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today:
January 13
A dog was taken to the shelter.
A resident asked police to call the owner of a vehicle parked in a private lot off Marine Street. The owner said the transmission died, and he couldn’t move it immediately. He gave police permission to pass on his number to the parking lot manager.
Police talked to the driver parked in front of a residence on Monastery Street. The vehicle owner said he was having kids coming to shovel the car out after school, and it should be moved by the following day.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 9:06 a.m. and 6:44 p.m. Monday.
In Court
Cynthia J. Bean, 46, was sentenced to 240 days with 180 suspended for assault in the fourth degree (recklessly injure). She is to receive a behavioral health assessment and follow recommendations, and will be on probation for two years.
Patrick K. Moore, 56, was sentenced to 30 days, with 23 suspended, and fined $1,500 on a charge of driving under the influence. He is to complete counseling, and his license will be revoked for 90 days. He will be on probation for a year.
Coast Guard
Coast Guard Air Station Sitka dispatched a helicopter Monday afternoon to pick up a 55-year-old man in Hoonah experiencing a number of health problems. The call to the Air Station came in at 4:20 p.m., the helicopter took off at 5:19 and arrived in Hoonah at 5:54 p.m., the Coast Guard said. The patient was flown to the Sitka airport, where an ambulance picked him up at 7:06 p.m. and took him to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.
