    The following calls were logged before 8 a.m. today:
Jan. 14
    At 8:11 a.m. a 911 caller said he’d run out of gas at the roundabout. The car was pushed into a parking lot.
    A caller said blank checks were stolen from a car at 2600 HPR.
    A woman said she lost her leather and fox fur gloves at the airport.
    A daycare worker said a middle-aged man had been watching the center and volunteered to help out. Other workers thought he was strange. Police were unable to locate him.
    A caller asked for help opening a car involved in an earlier accident. Police provided assistance.
    A resident stole items from a store Sunday and Monday, a clerk said. The clerk was advised of options and didn’t want to pursue charges at this time.
    At 5 p.m. a woman said her phone may have been stolen when she left it at the checkout counter at a grocery store. She called back later to say she found it on the ground outside her home.
    At 7:40 p.m. police called the owner of a van who left his lights on on Rudolph Walton Circle.
Jan. 15
    At 4:46 a.m. a woman asked for help blocking a cell phone. She said she was having a hard time but wanted others to know she wasn’t going to hurt herself. She didn’t want to tell police where she was, said she didn’t need help, and ended the call. Police learned later she was dropped off at a place where she was safe and no longer needed help.

    Emergency Calls

    Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 5:58 p.m. Monday, and 12:05 and 8:15 a.m. today.
    At 12:09 p.m. Monday a fire truck was sent to 101 Molly Lane on a report of a possible boat fire, which turned out to be a controlled burn.

    Coast Guard

    A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter late Monday night medevacked a 5-year-old boy from Hoonah to Sitka, after he was reported suffering from asthma. The Coast Guard received the call at 10:25 p.m., and launched at 11 p.m. to pick up the boy and his mother.
