Below are some of the calls police received:

January 19

At 10:30 a.m. a beagle running at large was picked up by the animal control officer in the 1200 block of SMC and returned to its owner.

An ID and debit card was turned in from the 400 block of SMC. Police were unable to make contact with the owner.

At 3:17 p.m. a new arrival to town asked police for help finding a place to sleep. He was given contact information and was able to find a place for temporary housing.

A resident reported someone had gone through his vehicle on Eagle Way. Nothing appeared to be taken.

At 6:37 p.m. a caller told police he knew the person painting graffiti at the skate park. Police are investigating.

At 8:20 p.m. police talked to the intoxicated man yelling in the Indian River subdivision. The man was able to care for himself.

 

Emergency Calls

The Sitka Fire Department dispatched  ambulances 10:06 and 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, and 1:19 a.m. today.

At 10:55 a.m. Wednesday a fire truck was dispatched to 404 Lake Street after steam activated the fire alarm system.
