Dear Editor: I’m not really meaning to be political, but I’m very worried about our constitutional government crumbling. Congress is supposed to be the branch of government that is a check and balance to an overreaching executive. It’s written right into our Constitution.
The GOP instead seems to be protecting an executive who is attempting to use the office of the presidency to cheat the American people out of the next election! He got away with it once; remember “Russia, if you’re listening ...” Well Russia was listening and hacked right into Dems’ servers within hours of that request. I digress.
Withholding funds allocated by Congress was illegal, according to a recent non-partisan ethical watchdog report. Withholding those funds to get a foreign government to do his bidding is extortion. Extortion is also illegal!
Oh, that’s not enough, he also asked China to investigate a political rival. Does that sound like this country will have free and fair elections in 2020? It sure doesn’t sound like it to me!
