Police Blotter
The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
January 20
At 9:20 a.m. a school reported a juvenile was missing. Police found the juvenile was with friends but had neglected to tell his grandmother.
At 12:42 a.m. an animal call came in from Sirstad and Monastery streets.
A juvenile reported to have run away from home was found and returned.
At 10:42 p.m. a vehicle theft was reported at Baranof and Biorka streets after an intoxicated person got in the wrong car.
January 21
A noise complaint came in at 7:17 a.m. from off the 1500 block of HPR.
At 2:06 p.m. an animal call came in from the 2300 block of HPR.
January 22
At 9:52 a.m. two apparently intoxicated men were reported in the skate park gazebo. Police asked them to leave and they complied.
At 5:09 p.m. an animal call came in from near the roundabout.
At 5:58 p.m. a noise complaint came in from the 700 block of Katlian.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday, three more on Saturday, and five on Sunday. Also on Sunday, an engine and three firefighters went to the 4600 block of SMC at 3 p.m. to put out an unattended bonfire.
Sitka Police
Walter Antone Johnson Jr., 45, was charged with assault Sunday afternoon.
Coast Guard
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter crew on Sunday morning medevacked a 38-year-old Haines woman in respiratory distress to Sitka.
The call came in at 4:12 a.m., and the helicopter took off shortly afterward. It returned with the patient by 8:15 a.m. for care at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.
