Police Blotter
The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
January 24
At 12:17 a.m. a teen was reported to have run away. Police found him and he returned home.
At 1:03 a.m. a shoplifter was reported at a store. Police talked to him and he agreed to pay for the items. The store declined to press charges.
At 6:46 a.m. a welfare check was requested on Oja Street.
At 11:54 a.m. a caller reported a relative had backed into his truck, causing some damage.
At 2:16 p.m. a caller said dogs were running at large at Charteris Street and Edgecumbe Drive.
At 2:17 p.m. a downtown store reported a shoplifter. Officers talked to the shoplifter, who agreed to return the items. The store declined to press charges.
At 3:26 p.m. a welfare check was requested at Eliason Harbor.
At 9:30 p.m. flares were reported being shot off near Moller ball field. Officers were advised.
Sitka Police
Andrew J. Haas, 27, arrested Jan. 15, has been charged with one felony count of assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor count of assault in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree and a misdemeanor count of misconduct involving a weapon in the fifth degree.
Haas, of Bellingham, Washington, paid $1,500 bail and returned to Washington.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Tuesday.
Coast Guard
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter crew on Tuesday flew a 52-year-old Hoonah man to Juneau for treatment of possible sepsis and pneumonia.
The Air Station received the call around 6:06 p.m., picked up the patient in Hoonah at 9:24 p.m., and reached Juneau by 10 p.m.
