‘The Nutcracker’

Dear Editor: I am writing to express our deepest thanks from The Nutcracker 2015 cast and crew. We had so much support from the community as we prepared our production for the stage. The following businesses were especially helpful: Allen Marine, Old Harbor Books, Venneberg Insurance, Ben Franklin, the Daily Sitka Sentinel, Raven Radio and the Hames Corporation. We’d also like to thank J Bradley and the crew at Sitka’s Performing Arts Center for their help. The people we’d most like to thank are our parents, siblings, friends and neighbors who pitched in to help with costumes, props, scenery, choreography and transportation. And thanks to every person in every seat of the theatre. You are the reason we work this hard and we hope you enjoyed the show.

We only do the Nutcracker every other year because it is a huge undertaking and it takes a lot of time on everyone’s part to make it happen. So next year is a resting year. Although as the director, I am already at work on planning and designing for the next production. Next time we will do the All Alaska version, which I know you will love.

This year we performed for some school students and it was the most rewarding performance we did. Many thanks to the principals and teachers at Baranof, Keet and the SEER school for bringing their students to the show. Thanks also to SAIL, the Pioneers Home and the Sitka Community Hospital Long Term Care Unit for bringing their clients to this special showing.

And finally, thanks to Grace Harbor Church for letting us have our cast party there this Saturday, Jan. 9, from 1-3 p.m. I hope all the cast and crew can come and celebrate together!
