Sitka Police

Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

January 6

At 12:46 a.m. a resident in the 1400 block of SMC reported someone had been banging on his door. Police found no one suspicious in the area.

At 9:50 a.m. a two-vehicle traffic accident with little damage was reported at HPR and Lake Street.

At 10:52 a.m. a minor traffic accident was reported at 800 Lake Street.

At 1:07 p.m. a woman was found sleeping in a stall at Crescent Harbor. She was told to leave.

At 1:10  p.m. a vehicle was reported on the sidewalk at Baranof Street and SMC. The owner was contacted to move it.

At 3:31 p.m. police stood by on Anna Drive while a property was vacated.

At 3:48 p.m. police began getting parked vehicles moved in the 1500 block of Edgecumbe Drive so snow could be removed.

 

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Thursday.

 

Sitka Police

Beverly Dexter, 53, was arrested Thursday on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Jesse J. Jeske, 41, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

Michael S. Giron, 51, was arrested Thursday on a charge of access of a drunken person to licensed premises.

Kevin G. Young, 31, was charged early this morning with assault in the fourth degree.

 

Grand Jury

A Sitka grand jury Thursday returned two indictments.

Matthew E. Spiegle, 24, was indicted on a charge of failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, in the first degree, a class C felony. He is accused of failing to stop his ATV at the direction of a police officer on Sawmill Creek Road on Dec. 8.

Osman Ariel Casco, 32, was charged with burglary in the first degree, a class B felony; attempted arson in the second degree, a class C felony; and criminal mischief in the third degree, a class C felony. The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 30, when he is accused of entering a trailer home on Halibut Point Road, attempting to cause a fire, and causing property damage in the amount of $750 or more. He is to appear in Superior Court in Sitka Jan. 12.
