    The following calls were logged before 8 a.m. today:
January 6
    An Indian River subdivision resident complained about neighbors allowing their fluffy dogs to run at large. The caller said he has tried to talk to the neighbors, and wanted it noted that if the dogs were run over by accident, it wouldn’t be his fault.
    At 3:08 p.m. a man said a driver almost hit him and his family while they were walking on the sidewalk near Crescent Harbor. Police talked to the driver, who denied any infractions but said she would drive more carefully.
    At 3:32 p.m. a woman said a seemingly confused man approached her and her dogs under O’Connell Bridge, and asked her what day it was. After her dogs became upset, the man started running to the base of Castle Hill. She said he appeared to have something sticking out of his jacket. He was gone when police checked the area.
January 7
    At 3:14 a.m. a caller said a man grabbed food at a grocery store and started eating without paying. He had a receipt for food he was eating and agreed to put back food he hadn’t yet paid for and leave the store.
    A resident said a nephew took her debit card without permission, and was using it.
    A Burkhart Street resident reported damage to a tire.
    Miscellaneous ammo confiscated by TSA was picked up by police, and disposed of properly.
    At 10 p.m. a truck was reported stopped in the inbound lane in the 700 block of HPR. Officers found the driver had run out of gas, and was returning with a gas can. Police helped her fill the tank, and get the car started again.
January 8
    At 3:51 a.m. a caller said a man locked himself in the bathroom at a motel. Police talked to him, and he agreed to leave the area.
    EMS helped a woman who had triggered her Lifealert alarm because she needed help getting up. She said she didn’t need a ride to the hospital for further medical help.
   
    Sitka Police

    A 17-year-old boy was cited early today for minor consuming.
   
    Emergency Calls

    Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 10:54 a.m. and 3:17 p.m. Monday, and 1:15 a.m. and 3:55 a.m. today.
 
    In Court
   
    Charles R. Kassinger, 22, was sentenced to 12 months, with 10 months suspended, on a charge of assault in the fourth degree. He was charged originally with assault in the third but pleaded guilty to the lesser count. He is to receive a behavioral health assessment and follow recommendations. He will be on probation for two years. Charges of assault in the third and fourth degrees were dismissed against him.
