Police Blotter
Sitka police logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today:
January 8
Police received a number of calls about vehicles blocking traffic and snowplows.
DOT was called to remove a tree from the 4200 block of HPR.
A caller reported a nail in a tire and seven deliberate cut marks in the 1600 block of HPR.
A non-injury accident was reported at the SEARHC parking lot.
At 1:25 p.m. a driver said a car pulled in front of him and he ended up in a ditch in the 2000 block of HPR.
At 3:41 p.m. a caller said he’d pulled a dog out of the water in the 600 block of Katlian. Police called the owner, who said he’d been looking for his pet since it ran off.
A standard poodle was turned in at the shelter.
At 4:40 p.m. a caller reported a disabled vehicle at HPR and Katlian.
Police said it wasn’t slowing traffic.
At 6:51 p.m. a vehicle was reported blocking the driveway to a medical flight service hangar. The owner arranged for the vehicle to be moved.
A caller said she was worried about her daughter’s safety, due to the boyfriend’s temper. Police found it was a family dispute and no crime occurred.
Trees fell down near the ferry terminal, blocking traffic and taking out power, around 11:40 p.m. Officers removed some of the trees, and an electric crew and DOT went to the area.
January 9
An ambulance was called for a resident with a severe headache.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 8:31 a.m., 9:22 a.m., 9:53 a.m., noon, 2:32 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. Wednesday; and 4:20 a.m. today.
At 9:36 p.m. Wednesday a fire truck was sent to 1321 SMC on a false alarm.
