Jerry Wallace Hall Dies; Sitka Resident Was 77

Posted

Sitkan Jerry Wallace Trierschield Hall died unexpectedly on January 4, 2026. He was 77.

Private services were held, and he was buried January 16 at Sitka National Cemetery.

Jerry and his twin brother Gerry were born September 21, 1948, in Sitka to Katherine (Kay) Trierschield. A quiet shy man who loved to hunt and fish, Jerry was known for being kind and private, a man who took things to heart and would help you if he could.

Jerry attended Sitka schools and had a varied work life. He worked at Sitka Cold Storage until it burned, in 1973, then at Alaska Pulp Corp. until it closed in 1993. After he got his CNA license, he provided care for people through both the Center For Community and the Sitka Pioneers Home.  He later drove bus for The Ride  until he retired.

He and his wife, Mary Ann, attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church. They had many adventures over their 30 years together – many boat trips identifying and harvesting standing dead trees for firewood at home, and as many camping trips as they could to Hawaii, sometimes twice in a year.

Jerry always had a dog.  He, Mary Ann and the dog frequently walked between their home and Sandy Beach, where they would sit on the bench, enjoying the view.  Walking in the other direction took him to SeaMart or to town – Jerry enjoyed his walks.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Kay Trierschield, and his stepfather, Gordon Hall Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Sitka; his brothers Gerry Hall of Sitka and Gordon Hall Jr.; his daughters Triecy, Melanie and Amanda; and Sitka cousins Pat Martin, Gary Atkinson, Dan Atkinson, Ron Martin and John Skannes.
