Woman’s Club Thanks
Dear Editor: Sitka Babies and Books would like to extend a big thank you to the Sitka Woman’s Club. Their generous contributions over the years has allowed Babies and Books to continue to provide Sitka children and families with books, programs and resources.
We are so excited to continue our partnership with the Sitka Woman’s Club and be able to provide support for the women and children in our community.

State Parks
Dear Editor: We all know that soon there will be no maintenance at some of our state parks. Many of us hope that something can be done at the state level, but still have images of our parks being trashed and abused.
We as locals can help on a very “hands-on” level. A few days ago a bear had torn apart a “bear-proof” garbage can at Starrigavin boat launch and trash was strewn far and wide. Then along came Dick Parmelee and his co-worker from Sitka Alaska Outfitters. They use the ramp for their ATV tours and they cleaned up the whole mess. Thank you to our locals who are doing what the can right now. Take some extra bags, etc with you when you use our parks.

Public Library
Dear Editor: I had been meaning to put my two-cents in for a while; Bill Foster’s letter in the Wednesday paper inspired me. I have more than one thing to say.
1. In case no one noticed ... if you compare 10 squared plus 33 squared with 35 squared minus 6 squared: there is an interesting result (re-solution).
2. The field of GOP candidates for the November 2016 election for president has gone confusing to baffling to: ridiculous.
3. My first thought about re-naming the refurbished Sitka Public Library is pretty much what Bill Foster said. My reasoning is this: aside from infrastructure improvements that had been part of budgeting for 10-20 years ...
4. Roger Schmidt (of the SJ Campus) has done a lot for Sitka;
So: ‘‘Roger Schmidt Sitka Public Library.’’
