Food Fight
Dear Editor: For two weeks I have felt concerned about the front page photo (July 2 issue) of the kids’ food fight. It has bothered me deeply.
Finally someone in the community had the guts to make an issue of this atrocity by means of a letter to the editor. I didn’t get to read the letter until July 9 because we were so busy processing salmon and doing a smokehouse load of fish.
I very strongly applaud Fr. Peter F. Gorges’ letter of embarrassment (if not outright condemnation) of the front page food fight photo
However, my viewpoint is not to criticize the Sentinel. I cannot say any more harshly (without cursing) that my criticism and condemnation is aimed at the Community Schools’ Ventures program. Here we have public funds: hard-earned tax dollars from federal, state and local sources teaching kids to be wasteful!
When we process our fish for freezing or smoking we are careful to use very bit.
I look forward to some response from the school superintendent – or someone.
