News

Dear Editor: And why shouldn’t Facebook prevent persons with an agenda from lying to the public and promoting disharmony? Vindictive as always; after NY Times, after the NFL, etc. People can only digest what they eat. CNN is slanted news, but they never tried to sell Biden Bears.

Trump has his mouthpiece already. OAN even still calls him president. Get this straight, clan of poor losers, Trump is the X president.

Darwin Award

Dear Editor: One of the times I tried to get a Darwin Award was in 1977 fishing for halibut in Glacier Bay.

The Darwin Award has given a new meaning to the cause of death. Not jealously, rage, war, famine, act of God or walking across a street in Chicago is the reason for your death. Stupidity just sheer stupidity gets you a Darwin Award. I had to dodge a few small icebergs while fishing. I noticed a little one, about the size of a large pot. I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be cool to say I have gotten hit by an iceberg?” I know of no one who had and this would assure me of great bragging rights. I positioned the F/V Helen, a 1928, 38-foot, wooden, double-ender broadside to the wee iceberg. Softly and slowly it made contact. After a few minutes I noticed that it did not pop off the boat and, in fact, was pushing the boat sideways as if I were a gnat. I went below decks into the focsle and saw the inside of the boat near the oil stove bulging in about 8 inches or so. Veins almost bursting, mind overwhelmed I raced up the stairs to the helm. I spun the wheel hard over and firewalled the engine. Luckily, we came off the iceberg.

Alas, again, I have missed getting a Darwin Award. I went and got vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus. I mean it would look a tad foolish to have on your gravestone: Died August 11, 2021, COVID-19 & Stupidity.

Vaccinations

Dear Editor: I am confused why the Chamber of Commerce is rewarding those people who have been delinquent or decided to not get the COVID-19 vaccine.

What about honoring those who made the effort to provide safety for all in a timely manner?
