Castle Hill Cannons
Dear Editor: With the Baranof statue going to Sitka’s museum it seems the perfect time to move the two Russian cannons from Castle Hill.
Each cannon is supported by a now-rotting wooden carriage. The carriages could be re-built, placed along each side of the statue, and hold the cannons in the museum.
A more historically correct structure: a Tlingit long house could be returned to the Castle Hill site.
Let’s make it happen.

Wear a Mask
Dear Editor: To all those who do not believe in wearing masks, the next time you have to have surgery, please tell the surgery suite, medical and nursing professionals that you would prefer all of their germs in your opened surgical site. My goodness you would not want them to breathe their own expelled air. You would much prefer to get a nosocomial infection.
The reason to wear a mask is to show you care about others and do not want them to get ill. I immediately assume that all individuals not wearing a mask do not care about anything but themselves.
Stores that do not require masks do not care about society.
We are in unusual times it is science that matters not one’s politics or your rights.
It is your caring of others that you are showing by wearing a mask.

Time Passes
Dear Editor: Re: Please be advised.
Quoth Bertrand Russell:
‘‘After ages during which the earth produced harmless trilobites and butterflies, evolution has progressed to the point at which it has generated Neros, Genghis Khans, and Hitlers. This however is a passing nightmare; in time the earth will become again incapable of supporting life, and peace will return.’’
