Brave Heart Bowls
Dear Editor: We would like to thank everyone who helped make our Brave Heart Volunteers Bowl fundraiser an absolute success. Thank you to all who attended, as well as the potters, businesses, and volunteers.
First, we could not have done it without the immense kindness of the potters who crafted and donated 300 stunning bowls: Trenton Capp, Caroline Daws, Michele Friedman, Shanti Friedman, Auriella Hughes, Jo Ingman, Gayleen Jacobs, Kathleen McCrossin, Gaylen Needham, Ritch Phillips, Josh Ragnes, Jude Reis, Robert Rose, Marge Steward, Katie Still, and Liz Zacher.
We also appreciate Liz Zacher and UAS-Sitka for providing studio space for the potters to create bowls. Every one of these kind souls went above and beyond, and we cannot thank them enough.
Another big thank you goes to the businesses that donated tasty soups, rolls, and bread to go: Beak Restaurant, Ludvig’s Bistro, Nugget Restaurant, Pizza Express and Southeast Dough Company. Everything was so delicious and no one left hungry! We also thank Sea Mart for providing supplies, and volunteer Rain VanDenBerg and her partner Allison for helping serve the soup and bread.
Mainstay supporters Ruth Culp and Lucy Phillips also deserve a very special thank you for baking 54 (!) dozen scrumptious cookies to help us raise funds. And we thank volunteer Jason Own, Marshall Barg and Tate Munnich for assisting with plating them.
Another treat was the fleet of corgis that paraded around Centennial Hall and charmed BHV supporters who attended our event. Thank you, Trish White, for coordinating the parade and to all the corgi owners who participated.
Also, words are never adequate enough to thank the Daily Sitka Sentinel, KCAW Raven Radio, and Sitka Soup for their regular coverage and promotion of BHV events. Your organizations are part of the heartbeat of our community and so vital in aiding our mission to support those who are facing loneliness, grief, and end of life. Thank you again and again.
Lastly, for those who missed the Bowls event, we still have 40 beautiful bowls available and will be holding a “Last Call” this Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the BHV offices (Pioneers Home Manager’s House) at 120 Katlian Street. In gratitude,
Angie DelMoral, Executive Director
