Panhandle Fly-In
Dear Editor: The Second Annual Alaska Panhandle Fly-In, held last weekend at the Sitka airport, was another great success with over 750 visitors and multiple pilots attending from communities outside of Sitka, including our special guests, the Royal Canadian Air Force with their Buffalo and Cormorant flight crews from Comox, B.C.
The SouthEast Alaska Aviation Association could not have done it without the amazing support of Guardian Flight Sitka, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Sitka, Alaska Airmen’s Association, Harris Aircraft Services, Home Plus, Schmolck Mechanical, Silver Bay Seafoods, Coastal Collision Repair, CBC Construction, Orion Sporting Goods, Russell’s, Baranof Island Brewing Company, Sea Mart, Northern Sales, Shobe Studios, Sitka Bottling Company, Spenard Builders Supply, Aero Services, the Nugget Restaurant, City of Sitka, Tor Svendson, Baranof Squardon Civil Air Patrol Cadets,  Dewalt, Makita, Elks Lodge, Re-Fresh Spa,  Aircraft Spruce, FAA, DOT, FSS Sitka, Sitka Sentinel newspaper, KIFW Radio, Raven Radio, Sitka Soup, Sitka Golf Association, and the classic car and truck community.
Thank you to the Southeast pilots and aircraft owners that donated their time, skills and aircrafts for the local area flights and to the SEAKAA members and volunteers that donated their time all weekend. Special thank you to all Sitkans who came out on a very wet Saturday to support this event by eating lunch, buying raffle tickets and making the Canadians feel very welcomed.
Funds raised at the Fly-In will go towards a $1,000 SEAKAA scholarship for aviation school tuition for an aviator-in-training. Letters of interest will be accepted until July 31, 2013. Contact seakaa@gmail.com for more information. Thank you, Sitka, for coming out and celebrating aviation! See you again next year!

Stevenson Hall Fund
Dear Editor: The Sitka Summer Music Festival says a huge thanks to all who contributed to our Stevenson Hall Capital Campaign during the festival.
We made AND EXCEEDED our $15,000 match.
And many thanks to Tommy Joseph who donated a fine halibut hook and to Robert Rose who donated the elegant petroglyph bowl for the silent auction, the proceeds to go to Stevenson Hall. Artists helping musicians!
The festival is raising money to buy, and then to renovate, Stevenson Hall on the SJ Campus. When the building is bought and renovated (insulated, remodeled, etc.), the festival will have a permanent Alaska home. The SSMF will be able to bring fine classical music to Alaska year-round , with musicians-in-residence rehearsing new works, nurturing young musicians, extending oru programs working with youths, and giving master classes through the year. And that’s only a start.
Thanks, again, to Robert Rose and Tommy Joseph, and to all those who helped us make our match.

Stevenson Hall Capital Campaign,
