Faith

Dear Editor: Because they didn’t believe in PFDs (personal flotation devices) a family was left treading water after their small boat sank.

Another boat came by and asked if they needed help, but the parents said no, they were all praying and had faith that their salvation would be provided.

This happened twice again with each of two more boats.

Eventually, too tired to tread water, they all drowned, died, and went to heaven where the parents, after pointing out that they had prayed and kept faith, asked why help hadn’t been provided.

The answer they got was, ‘‘But, three boats were sent.’’

Thank You, Subway

Dear Editor: Sitka Homeless Coalition would like to send our heartfelt thanks to the owner and staff of Subway for generous supplies of hot coffee, ready at 7:30 a.m., twice a week over many months’ time, in support of the laundry/shower project. Morning coffee has been greatly appreciated by many participants. This is a fine example of Sitkans supporting Sitkans! We are fortunate to be able to rely on Subway’s kindness and sincerely appreciate their generosity to the men.
