Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

July 22

At 12:14 a.m. a bear was reported on Tilson Street.

At 1:37 a.m. a dispute between neighbors over noises was reported in the 2800 block of HPR.

At 1:44 a.m. two people were reported at the skate park. An officer told them it was after hours, and they left.

At 2:09 a.m. and 4:27 a.m. a bear was reported in the 1500 block of Edgecumbe Drive.

At 4:05 a.m. two dogs were reported running at large and barking on Versa Place, apparently an ongoing problem.

At 4:27 a.m. a bear was seen in the 1500 block of Edgecumbe Drive.

A parking problem was reported on Davidoff Street at 8:27 a.m.

A man reported his bicycle had been stolen a few months ago and his daughter’s was stolen two weeks ago while she was out of town.

An incidence of drunkenness was reported at the airport at 6 p.m.

At 6:24 p.m. an HPR caller said a neighbor had taken parts of a smoker. Officers talked to those involved, and the neighbor agreed to return the items and the caller agreed not to press charges.

An incidence of drunkenness was reported at Lincoln Street and Harbor Drive at 6:32 p.m.

At 7:16 p.m. a traffic complaint was reported at Eliason Harbor.

At 9:17 p.m. a man said a bear had come out of the woods at the Trooper Academy, made eye contact with him, and gone back into the woods.

At 10:29 p.m. a car was reported parked on Kashevaroff Street behind the school. An officer advised the occupants to move on.

At 11:44 p.m. a bear was seen going through garbage on Shelikof Way. It was gone when officers arrived.

July 23

At 12:10 a.m. a vehicle was reported parked at Shelikof and HPR. An officer issued a citation for parking in a no-parking zone.

At 12:23 a.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on a man in a downtown bar. The man was leaving when officers arrived, and was given help returning safely to his boat.

Sitka Police

Glen Jones, 31, was charged Thursday morning with assault in the fourth degree and misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 7:22 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, and 7:15 a.m. today.
