Police Blotter
Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
July 25
Items were reported taken out of an unlocked car on Spruce Street.
Officers advised a person who had been sleeping next to the library to clean up his mess and leave the area.
A man who had passed out in the Harbor Drive restrooms was found to be able to care for himself.
A stalking order was given to police to serve.
At 1:13 p.m. an intoxicated man was reported being obnoxious to people in the downtown area. He was gone when police arrived.
Police picked up a small safe found on the rocks at Whale Park.
A resident said her small backpack purse was missing from her unlocked vehicle at Pioneer Park.
At 6:14 p.m. a couple was reported arguing in the 400 block of HPR. Officers found the woman was upset about an incident that happened earlier. There were no signs of a crime, and the two left on their bikes.
At 8:30 p.m. a caller asked police to keep an eye out for an intoxicated man coming into Sealing Cove Harbor on a skiff, and to make sure he didn’t drive. Officers saw no one matching the description.
At 11:20 p.m. two people were reported drinking while hiding in the skate park “crater.” Officers talked to them and they moved along.
July 26
A man reported passed out on a downtown bench at 12:25 a.m. was found to be able to care for himself.
A woman running from the police vehicle said she didn’t like headlights. She appeared to be under the influence, police said. A man sleeping near the library around the same time was told to move along.
Sitka Police
Johnny McCoy, 26, was cited for driving with a revoked license, on Thursday.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 10:53 a.m. and 9:35 p.m. Thursday
Grand Jury
A Sitka grand jury on Thursday indicted Karly K. Fuller, 25, on a charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree, and promoting contraband in the first degree. The first charge related to allegations that on July 14 she possessed heroin, and within the preceding 10 years had been convicted and sentenced on an offense with “similar elements.” She was also alleged to have conveyed or introduced contraband in a correctional facility.
In Court
Michael L. Martin, 43, was fined $1,000, with $500 suspended, for unlawful possession of fish. He will be on probation for a year. Court documents said he retained and possessed a king salmon out of season in Sitka Sound.
