Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
July 27
At 12:54 a.m. a vehicle was reported being driven in circles at Eliason Harbor. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
At 1:27 a.m. a resident reported not having hot water. She was told the matter would be addressed in the morning.
At 2:10 a.m. a bear was seen on Indian River Road.
At 2:41 a.m. a bear was reported on Charlie Joseph Street.
At 4:29 a.m. police assisted troopers in delivering a death notice.
At 5:06 a.m. juveniles were reported to have turned on a forklift in the 1300 block of HPR. A parent was met with, the kids were warned, and the forklift was secured.
At 5:38 a.m. two men were reported rummaging through city and private property at 401 Granite Creek Road. The men were trespassed from the area, and a further investigation of the incident was underway.
At 11:26 a.m. a welfare check was requested on a Lake Street resident who hadn’t answered the door in awhile. Police checked and the resident was taken to the hospital.
At 1:37 p.m. cars stopped at the Sitka Sound Science Center were reported posing a traffic problem. They were gone when officers arrived.
At 1:53 p.m. a Knutson Drive resident reported rogue chickens were trespassing and requested a live trap.
At 5:38 p.m. a caller reported a boy, age 8, had a bow and arrow and was throwing rocks. Officers calmed the situation and the boy was taken to relatives.
At 9 p.m. a bear was reported at the Starrigavan boat launch.
At 9:08 p.m. a store reported a man had grabbed some groceries and left without paying. Officers were unable to locate him.
At 9:40 p.m. a man was reported yelling and making threats along the 1200 block of SMC.
At 10 p.m. a bear was reported in the 5200 block of HPR.
July 28
At 12:03 a.m. a man was reported missing. Police located him, at work.
At 2:23 a.m. a bear was reported on Lance Drive.
