Police Blotter
Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
July 26
At 10 a.m. a caller said two vehicles appeared to be racing on Davidoff Street, and one rear-ended the other.
A caller reported garbage cans overflowing in the 2600 block of HPR.
A caller said he’d received a scam call regarding his credit card, and he wanted it reported so other seniors would be alerted and not give out info.
.A caller said a van parked at the Indian River trailhead had garbage and other things around it. An officer talked to a woman who said the property belongs to a man who’s storing it in the van without permission.
At 1:43 p.m. a caller said a man on a bike and a woman walking along were screaming at each other, and the woman had an opened knife. An officer talked to both, and found there was a miscommunication over going to an attorney. The woman said she had the knife out for her cigarette.
At 2:32 p.m. a man said a vehicle parked at Crescent Harbor had been running since 8 a.m. An officer contacted the owner, who said his grandson was using the vehicle and would go turn it off.
At 8:30 p.m. a caller in the 1300 block of SMC said a man urinated on his front lawn then left on foot.
At 8:32 p.m. a backpack was reported taken off a bench at Eliason Harbor.
At 10:28 p.m. a caller said a woman was staggering down the sidewalk in the 500 block of HPR. She was gone when officers arrived.
July 27
At 12:03 a.m. a man who appeared highly intoxicated was reported lying under a pickup with his bike on ANB Harbor. He was taken to a hospital.
At 1 a.m. a man and a woman were reported sleeping in vehicles on Indian River Road. An officer talked to them and they agreed to move on.
At 3:24 a.m. a caller said a woman so intoxicated she couldn’t identify herself was outside a store in the 300 block of Lincoln. She was able to take a taxi home, police said.
At 11:36 a.m. a caller said a person-sized shape wrapped in a blanket was under the bridge. An officer made contact with a sleeping man, who was OK and was getting up.
At noon a man said an intoxicated woman was on his boat and wouldn’t leave. He said he had her keys because she wants to drive. She told an officer someone was picking her up. The officer took her keys to ensure she wouldn’t drive.
At 1:15 p.m. a caller reported a peeping tom at 705 HPR. An officer got a description of the man.
At 8:19 p.m. a man said his wife had fallen out of bed and he wasn’t able to get her into a vehicle to take her to a hospital. EMS responded but she refused transportation.
July 28
At 1:18 a.m. a man said he’d fallen inside a store and now his head hurt and he felt dizzy. He also said he’d been drinking. He was taken to a hospital.
At 2:05 a.m. a man said his wife had fallen out of bed and he couldn’t get her back up. EMS responded but she refused transportation.
At 4:24 a.m. a caller said his bike was stolen from in front of his house on SMC during the night.
At 4:52 p.m. a caller said two kids on bikes were setting off fireworks near the Path of Hope on Moller.
At 10:40 p.m. a caller said a vehicle had flipped over in a ditch at Herring Cove. The caller said a woman in the vehicle said she wasn’t injured and had called police, and a man in the damaged vehicle was gathering his belongings. When the caller returned to the scene about 5 minutes later, the two were gone, and the caller was worried they might be injured.
Sitka Police
Seth Brown, 54, was cited Friday for urinating in public.
Gilbert Sam, 63, was taken into custody Friday night on a probation violation.
Kory Hansen, 29, was charged early Sunday with misconduct involving a weapon in the fourth degree.
Brian Bernhardt, 27, was charged with driving under the influence early Sunday morning.
John Borglund, 44, was arrested on a warrant Sunday for failure to appear for arraignment on a charge of theft.
Cedar Mayo, 29, was charged with criminal trespass at a store Sunday.

Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 12:23 p.m., 1:14 p.m., 3:20 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. Friday; 12:05 a.m., 1:55 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. Saturday; 1:21 a.m., 2:06 a.m. and 12:25 p.m. Sunday; and 12:59 a.m. and 6:25 a.m. as of 8 a.m. today.
