July 29, 2021, Police Blotter

Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

July 28

At 12:03 a.m. a man was reported missing. Police located him, at work.

At 2:23 a.m. a bear was reported on Lance Drive.

At 7:22 a.m. a caller in the 700 block of SMC reported her German shepherd had strayed. The Post Office called later to report finding the dog.

At 8:17 a.m. a Toivo Circle caller reported dogs had been barking for an hour.

At 9:14 a.m. a man reported his bike had been stolen. He called back at 6:40 p.m. to report it had been returned.

An incidence of drunkenness was reported in the 500 block of Lincoln.

At 1:53 p.m. a woman called from out of town to ask for a welfare check on her daughter, who hadn’t called for a week. Officers located the daughter, who said her phone had been dead and she would call her mom.

A woman complained to police she had received scam calls basically offering her prizes in exchange for money.

At 6 p.m. an incident of drunkenness was reported on Indian River Road.

At 7:35 p.m. and 7:43 p.m. callers reported a bear at 4790 HPR.

At 8:05 p.m. a bear was reported on Granite Creek Road.

At 10:18 p.m. a family dispute was reported in the 300 block of Lincoln.

At 10:32 p.m. a caller reported hearing gunshots on Cascade Creek Road.

July 29

At 6 a.m. a caller said a dog was running at large in the 1800 block of HPR but she couldn’t catch it. Officers caught it and took it to the animal shelter.

 

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 8:39 a.m., 11:51 a.m., 12:26 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:33 p.m. and 9:47 p.m. Wednesday, and 8:27 a.m. today.

 

In Court

Kyler C. Brenton, 19, on a charge of reckless driving was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $1,000 with $500 suspended. He will be on probation for a year. A charge of minor operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol was dismissed by the prosecution.
