Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
July 28
At 4:47 a.m. TSA asked for verification of a passenger’s identity.
A cell phone was turned in. Police were unable to find information identifying the owner, and put the phone in the property drawer.
At 11:33 a.m. a caller reported garbage spilled in the 4600 block of HPR, and said she was worried about bears being shot. An officer checked the area but found no spilled garbage.
At 11:40 a.m. a caller said she’d left a rental van at the cruise dock after cleaning it thoroughly for the next renter. But the next renter told her it had been trashed, she said. An officer checked it out and found nothing amiss.
A woman turned in ID and four credit cards found at the Gavan Hill trail head. Dispatch attempted to locate the owner.
At 12:52 p.m. an anonymous caller reported overflowing garbage bins on a driveway to the cruise terminal. An officer checked it out and found no garbage problems in the area.
A vehicle was reported parked on the sidewalk on Baranof Street. Officers found the owner, who said she was working in the area and would move the vehicle.
At 1:31 p.m. a downtown store reported a woman had been behaving erratically and disturbing customers. Officers spoke with her.
A person talked with an officer at the police station about a fight.
A woman complained to police about a barnacle parking device that had been put on her windshield to prevent its being driven. She was advised of her options.
A woman asked for a welfare check on her former husband, who was not answering her calls. He told police he was OK, just didn’t want to talk to her.
A woman who reported having a dispute with a man over transferring of funds was given her options.
A caller said a relative was having parties at another relative’s home. Officer talked to the home owner, who said she was OK and didn’t need assistance.
Police received a summons to be served.
At 8:49 p.m. a tenant reported a problem with a landlord. She was advised of her options.
July 29
At 1:48 a.m. a caller said he’d dropped off an elderly woman at her home and she had complained she had no electric power. Police found all the street lights and porch lights in the area were on.
At 2:26 a.m. a woman on Georgeson Loop asked police to check her property as she could hear someone walking about and the lights on her car were flashing. Officers found no one in the area, and determined the car was locked and the flashing light was part of a security feature in the car.
At 6:42 a.m. a Georgeson Loop resident reported a woman was running around and screaming. Officers could not locate the woman.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Thursday and one early this morning.
Two false alarm fire calls also were logged Thursday – one at 10:21 a.m. in the 400 block of Lincoln Street and the other at 6:20 p.m. in the 4500 block of HPR.
