DeArmond Donation
Dear Editor: On behalf of the Sitka Public Library, both staff and patrons, I would like to say thank you to Malin Marie Babcock and the DeArmond estate for the generous donation of a framed print of Robert N. DeArmond to the library.
This portrait is a print of Steve Lawrie’s incredible original painting of R.N. DeArmond, and we feel fortunate to receive this gift. Mr. DeArmond’s legacy as a historian of Sitka and Alaska is well documented by his many books and publications over his long career. We found a spot right next to the local history room in the library, which feels like a suitable home to hang his portrait.
Please look for it next time you visit the library!
