Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

July 6

At 12:28 a.m. a bear was reported eating garbage in the 2900 block of HPR. It was chased off.

At 4:25 a.m. a man was reported sleeping at the post office. Officers advised him he had to leave.

A wallet was turned in.

The animal control officer returned a border collie found at Sealing Cove to its owner.

At 10:53 a.m. a cruise ship reported finding ammunition.

A case was started on a report of harassment.

A report of a sex offense is under investigation.

At 3:41 p.m. a man wearing underwear, a hat and shoes was reported in the 100 block of Lincoln Street. Police talked to him and he agreed to put on clothes.

At 5:29 p.m. a civil dispute over property was reported on Hirst Street. Those involved were advised of options.

A wallet found on Harbor Mountain Road was turned in. Police were unable to locate the owner.

At 8:22 p.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on a co-worker. Officers found he was fine.

Those involved in a family dispute were advised it was a civil case.

At 8:57 p.m. a caller reported a suspicious person was walking in the bushes in the 1800 block of SMC. Officers talked to a man in the area who was picking berries.

At 9:32 p.m. a light pole in the 100 block of Lincoln Street was reported sparking. Police notified the city electric department and the fire hall.

At 9:57 p.m. police received a protective order to be served.

Suspicious activity reported at 10:46 p.m. at Lance Drive and Vitskari Street  was found to be someone towing a vehicle so it would be ticketed.

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received two ambulance calls Wednesday, and had a call at 9:32 p.m. about an electrical problem in a light pole in the 100 block of Lincoln Street.  The city electric department was notified.
