The following calls were logged as of 8 a.m. today.

May 31

At 12:51 a.m. a caller complained of noise at a residence on Darrin Drive. All was quiet when police checked.

At 4:47 a.m. a driver age 16 was reported to have lost control in the 1500 block of HPR and hit a power pole. No injuries were reported, and a tow truck was called.

At 11:20 a.m. a skiff was reported floating in the water at Back Beach, with items floating nearby. Police contacted the boat’s owner.

At 12:11 a.m. a vehicle was reported in the roadway on Monastery Street. Police contacted the vehicle owner.

At 1:51 a.m. a dog was reported attacking chickens on Cascade Creek Road. The dog’s owner wasn’t at home at the time and police were to make contact later.

A civil dispute between Merril Street neighbors was logged at 2:15 p.m.

At 10:06 p.m. a civil standby was requested while a person retrieved property from a residence on Lake Street.

At 10:15 p.m. multiple callers reported fireworks in the 4000 block of HPR. Police were unable to find the source.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Wednesday.

 

Coast Guard

A 57-year-old cruise ship passenger was medevacked by a Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter Wednesday after he experienced heart attack and anaphylactic shock symptoms, reportedly after eating lobster on the ship, the Coast Guard said.

He was stable when the arrived in Sitka.

The Coast Guard command center received the call at 9:23 p.m. from the Royal Princess, which at the time was heading south in Chatham Strait near Ommaney Peak on the southern tip of Baranof Island. The helicopter took off at 10:36 p.m., flew to the scene where the patient, a ship doctor and nurse were hoisted aboard, then returned to Sitka, landing just after midnight.
