Police Blotter
Sitka police logged the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
June 13
A small white dog with brown ears was turned in to the animal shelter a few days before.
At 12:07 p.m. a caller who wished to remain anonymous said a man bleeding from the back of his head was walking toward Katlian Street. Officers were unable to locate him.
At 1:17 p.m. a hospital said a man in the emergency room wanted to report he’d been assaulted. Police made an arrest.
An apartment resident said she could hear a man threatening to kill her with a shotgun. Officers spoke with her and checked out the premises. They advised the woman to note the date and time if the situation arises again and tell management so the security system can be checked.
At 6:10 p.m. a caller said intoxicated men at the Skate Park beach were offering alcohol to kids. Officers spoke to two, who poured out their alcohol and were given warnings regarding drinking in public.
A caller said her truck had broken down at Sitka Memorial Park and it couldn’t be moved until the next day.
At 8 p.m., a caller made a third-party report of a man passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the Eliason Harbor parking lot. Officers contacted the man, and confirmed his driver’s license had been revoked. The vehicle was impounded and the man cited. Drugs were found and charges are to be forwarded.
June 14
At 1 a.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on a friend who’d made statements about hurting himself. Officers spoke to the friend, who said he’d been upset at the time but did not wish to hurt himself, that it probably was a misunderstanding.
Sitka Police
Azureus Stamets, 38, was charged with assault in the first degree and assault in the second degree Thursday afternoon.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Thursday.
Grand Jury
A Sitka grand jury Thursday handed down two indictments.
Nathaniel Scott Coble, 39, was charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree. He is accused of knowingly possessing on June 7 “with intent to manufacture or deliver one or more preparations, compounds, mixtures or substances of an aggregate weight of 2.5 grams or more containing a schedule IIA or IIIA controlled substance, methamphetamine.” It is a class B felony.
Maxwell J. Dicicco, 18, was indicted on a charge of failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, a class C felony. The count states he was the operator of a vehicle “when he failed to stop as soon as practical and in a reasonably safe manner under the circumstances when requested or signaled to do so by a peace officer. ...” It is a Class C felony.
