Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

June 15

A caller asked police for the phone number of the FBI in Anchorage.

A woman told police she had received a suspicious check. Officers told her it was a scam and to shred the check.

A caller reported a relative had witnessed a violation of conditions of release. Police said the relative needed to report it.

A caller reported finding a bicycle at Indian River Road and SMC. The bike was gone when officers arrived.

A minor two-vehicle traffic accident was reported on Verstovia.Street. Drivers were given self-report forms.

At 1:28 p.m. a caller complained about a vehicle with a loud muffler failing to stop at a stop sign on Lance Drive.

A woman said she continued to get tickets for a vehicle she no longer owns.

At 3:24 p.m.  a caller from out of town said he’d found a man with a possible head wound on the ground on Lake Street. The caller said he helped the man home but he had declined EMS, and the caller was concerned.

A man reported his bike had been stolen at the National Park three days before.

At 8:18 p.m. an officer opened a file on a disorderly conduct case.

June 16

A 1:12 a.m. a caller on Burkhart Street said neighbors were screaming and banging on walls. Officers found it was a family argument and no crime had been committed.

At 3:49 a.m. a dead deer was reported by the road in the 2100 block of HPR. Police picked up the carcass, which may be given to Fortress of the Bear.

At 4:43 a.m. a caller reported a vehicle was going at what seemed like 60 mph over the O’Connell Bridge. Officers talked to the driver, who said he was late for work.

Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Wednesday and one early this morning.
