Dear Editor: Brave Heart Volunteers would like to thank the Coast Guard Wives and Spouses Association for the generous gift of $700 they granted in support of background checks for new volunteers. This gift allows those interested in volunteering to do so at no cost.

Dear Editor: June 22 was the 14th running of the Medvejie Solstice 1/2 marathon, 10K and 5k. Thanks to all the runners who came to support Sitka High School track and cross county.
