Police Blotter
    The following calls were received by Sitka police before 8 a.m.:
June 26
    A man reported losing a camouflage pack with carving tools inside.
    A red Electra beach cruiser bicycle abandoned at Eliason was turned in.
    A pair of $1,400 Fujinon binoculars was reported stolen off a boat.
    A handicap placard was reported stolen from a vehicle.
    At 5:59 p.m. a man was reported holding onto a tree in the 400 block of Lake Street. He registered a .233 PBT and was taken to a hospital.
    The Kimsham ballfield concession stand was reported broken into.
    Police opened an investigation into a report of drug abuse.
    At 9:59 p.m. a caller said an intoxicated woman had urinated in public at Totem Park. The woman told police she had not been urinating in the park. She was intoxicated but able to care for herself and left the area.
    At 10:43 p.m. a bear was reported in the Shotgun Alley area.
    At 10:51 p.m. a man reported  running around and looking in windows was taken into protective custody until sober.
June 27
    At 5:55 a.m. trash was reported strewn abound the SMC and Shotgun Alley area by a bear, police said.

Sitka Police
    Samuel Kane, 35, was remanded Wednesday for a probation violation. He was additionally charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance for alleged possession of meth.

Coast Guard
    The Coast Guard received a request for help at 6:45 a.m. today for a boat skipper who had cut his neck in Silver Bay. A good Samaritan responded to help, so the Coast Guard was not needed, an agency spokesman said.

Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 2:10, 6:18 and 9:27 p.m. Wednesday.
