Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
June 27
At 1:14 a.m. two intoxicated men were reported arguing near the Pioneers Home. Officers gave them disorderly conduct warnings.
At 2 a.m. an unconscious man with a head wound was found at Katlian and Lincoln streets. He was taken to the hospital.
Two sets of keys and two cell phones were turned in to police.
A man said he’d lost his cell phone while in Sitka. Police helped him locate it.
Police were told of a possible violation of a protective order at 1:08 p.m.
Summonses were served in two cases.
A man said his ex had taken a car title and wouldn’t return it.
At 6:15 p.m. a store employee texted she had refused to sell tobacco products to underage customers.
At 8 p.m. a caller said the neighbor’s dogs were loose on Brady Street and had chased him. The animal control officer was notified.
At 9:27 p.m. dogs were again barking on Cedar Beach Road. After talking to police the owner agreed to take the dogs inside.
At 9:50 p.m. a man was reported to have dumped a mattress on city property on Burkhart Street. Police talked to him and he agreed to pick up the mattress.
At 10:56 p.m. a caller on Dodge Circle said a neighbor’s dogs had come into the yard and attacked the caller’s dog. The animal control officer was notified.
Sitka Police
Arlanda Pete, 29, was arrested this morning on a charge of assault in the fourth degree.
Shawn Chandler, 30, was charged Monday with violating conditions of release.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Monday.
At 11:13 p.m. Monday an engine with a crew of three responded to a vehicle fire at the Harbor Mountain bypass and Kramer Avenue. (See story, this page.)
A fire alarm went off at 1:08 a.m. in the 400 block of Lincoln Street but there was no fire.
Vehicle Burns
An abandoned vehicle burned up late Monday night on the Harbor Mountain bypass at Kramer Avenue.
The fire department said it sent an engine with a crew of three to the scene after receiving a call at 11:13 p.m. The vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder, was fully ablaze when the engine arrived. By 12:18 a.m. today, the crew had put out the fire and was back at the fire hall.
Police are investigating.
