Murkowski on Energy
Dear Editor: Is Murkowski part of the climate problem?
Alaskan Sen. Lisa Murkowski is the chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resource Committee and the most powerful person in the Senate to take action on climate change. She has the power and responsibility to protect Alaskans and provide for healthy environments and economies across both Alaska and the United States, yet she is doing nothing.
Alaska is being hit harder than any other state by climate change and we need Murkowski to use her role to take action. Unfortunately, she continues to avoid the issue. Is Sen. Murkowski really for Alaskans, or is she for the big oil industries who fund her re-election campaigns and contribute to the source of the problem: climate change?

Pansy Donation
Dear Editor: Brave Heart Volunteers found a flat of colorful pansies on our front steps several weeks ago. We, in turn, passed them on to our end-of-life volunteers who had provided 60 hours of time being present with a person, with no family in town, who had just passed.
Thank you to the thoughtful individuals who purchased an extra plant or two from the Mt. Edgecumbe Preschool fundraiser to share with Brave Heart Volunteers.
