Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

June 6

At 1:25 a.m. a woman was reported chasing a man in the 700 block of Katlian Street. Officers spoke to the man and told him he was to check in with the adult probation officer later in the morning.

A woman said she’d been receiving  calls from scammers seeking money.

An officer gave a driver a verbal warning about having an expired registration and no auto insurance.

A driver reported his vehicle was rear-ended in the 700 block of HPR. He and the other driver filled out self-report forms.

At 2:10 p.m. perfume was reported to have set off the fire alarm at the Russian Bishop’s House.

At 3:52 p.m. a welfare check was requested on a man who might be suicidal. Officers talked to the man, who said he was fine.

A caller said his son’s four-wheeler had been stolen and had been located at a residence. Officers talked to a resident, who agreed to return the four-wheeler. The caller declined to press charges.

A caller said he’d found a child’s bike in his front yard, in the 3500 block of HPR. He said he would post it on Facebook, and if the bike wasn’t claimed he would turn it in at the police station.

At 5:38 p.m. a caller reported hearing someone screaming in a residential neighborhood. Officers found a domestic disturbance had arisen over FaceTime. Officers talked to a man, who said it was fine.

At 7:07 p.m. two horses were reported loose near the ferry terminal. The horses’ owner was contacted.

A license plate was found at Baranof Street and SMC.

At 7:45 p.m. a juvenile was reported on top of the restrooms under the O’Connell Bridge. He told officers he was taking in the sights. The officers spoke with the dad, who said his son had already called him.

At 8:19 p.m. a caller said a man was wandering in the 200 block of Lance Drive, going onto a deck and into bushes. The man told police he was looking for his bike. Officers determined no crime had been committed.

June 7

At 1 a.m. a disabled vehicle was reported in the 2800 block of HPR. Officers talked to three juveniles, advised them about curfew, and gave them a ride home.

At 1:54 a.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on a man who may have taken some pills. The man told officers he was fine, but voluntarily agreed to go to a medical facility.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Monday, and a false alarm at 2:10 p.m. 

In Court

Rodney K. Brevick Jr., 35, on a Dec. 16, 2021, charge of resist/interfere with arrest by force was found guilty Jan. 6.  It was a conviction of record without imposition of jail time, probation or a fine. A charge of assault in the fourth degree, recklessly injure, was dismissed.
