Posted

Karen Geren

It is with great sadness  that the family of Karen Geren has announced her sudden passing in Washington on October 26, 2023, at the age of 82.

Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 32 years, Walter; her children Edward, Michael (Toni), David (Rosemarie), and Elizabeth (Thomas); grandchildren Kristine, Edward (Brittany), Nicole, James, David, Evan, Emily, Thomas; great-grandchildren Mateo, Carter and Nathan; and her two  sisters, Julie, of Sitka, and Lynn, who lives abroad.

Karen was born in Stamford, Connecticut, in 1941 to William and Jesse. She always spoke fondly of being raised  in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and Toronto, Canada.

She raised a family in Long Island, New York, then in June 1989 she became a community member of Sitka, where she worked at Sitka Community Hospital.

In 2006 Karen and Walter moved to the state of Washington. They  enjoyed  traveling and exploring new places.

Karen enjoyed reading, knitting, genealogy and quilting. She was very proud of the many first place ribbons she received for her beautiful and amazing quilts.

Karen was caring and loving, and will be missed by all who knew her.
