Kenneth C. “Kenny” Proctor

Kenneth C. “Kenny” Proctor, a resident of Sitka, passed from this life on February 10 at his home in Safford, Arizona. He was 88.

Kenny was born June 22, 1936, in Tillamook, Oregon, the son of George and Lena Proctor. When he first came to Alaska he worked in logging camps. As a resident of Sitka, from 1972 to 1995, Kenny was a commercial fisherman on his boat, the Lady DI. and owned the business Electrical Rebuilders, where he worked in the off-season. He loved Sitka and would have stayed if not for his declining health. He lived in eastern Oregon and Vancouver, Washington, after leaving Sitka. After he retired as a mechanic and heavy truck operator, he enjoyed the warm weather in Arizona but continued to donate his time to a local business.

Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Diane (Dee) Proctor; his brother, Jack Proctor, and sister, Joyce Way.

He is survived by his daughter, Teri Gregg, of Safford, and four sons, Dennis  and Dawnelle Proctor of Beaumont, Texas, Roger and Debra Proctor of Camas, Washington, Chip and Sally Proctor of Hoodsport, Washington, and Richard Proctor of Sitka.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. March 1 the Safford Church of Christ, where he was a member.  Additional memorial services will take place in Pendleton and  Tillamook, Oregon, in July.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the National Rifle Association.

Cards may be sent to Teri Gregg, 3201 East Highway 70 #133, Safford AZ 85546.
