Dear Editor: I wanted to share the latest message I sent to Sen. Dan Sullivan. I am very optimistic that Sen. Sullivan will consider my opinion and vote to confirm Charles Kursner as our Ambassador to France.
Dear Sen. Sullivan: You assured me earlier that you thoroughly investigate our president’s nominations before voting to confirm them. I wanted to express my concerns about the possibility that you may not vote to confirm Charles Kursner as Ambassador to France. I know that he was convicted of a mere 18 counts, which pales in comparison to our great leaders’ 34 counts. I am concerned that you might hold his admission that he made a “very, very, very serious mistake” against him. He should be denying any wrongdoing, blaming his convictions on the radical left, a rigged system, prosecutors, judges, the media, or any number of possible reasons. Please remember that our great president has pardoned him, and that should be enough for you not to hold that moment of weakness against him and vote to confirm.
With great respect,
Tim Fulton, Sitka
