Former Sitka resident Larry Paul Snider, of Aberdeen, Washington, passed away at Harbor Regional Health Center on July 11, 2025. He was 73 years old.
Larry was born on June 28, 1952, and was later adopted by Frank and Naomi (Iams)
Snider of Renton, Washington. He was raised in Seattle, Washington, and attended Eastern
Washington University from 1970 until enlisting with the U.S. Army in July of 1972. He served for
two years before being honorably discharged in 1974. Upon his return home, he
claimed his broadcasting degree from EWU and went on to work for multiple radio
stations across the United States in different capacities before retiring in 2017.
He was general manager of Alaska Broadcast Communications, Sitka's KIFW and KSBZ-FM, for several years in the early 2000s before retiring in 2017 and moving to Aberdeen.
He was a lover of music and amassed an extensive collection of several artists and genres,
most recently blues and Miles Davis. Among his keepsakes was a photo of himself with Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones.
Larry was also an avid sports fan, the Pittsburgh Pirates in particular. He was so interested in the team he kept track of its stats for the last 35 years, probably more, using just a pad of paper and a ballpoint pen.
Larry is survived by his son, Frank Snider of Colville, Washington; and his daughter, Tara Christiano of Portland, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Naomi Snider.
Memorial services will be planned and announced at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary.
