Dear Editor: I love Sitka. Sitka is my home. My heart is with this place and its people. Unfortunately, after only three and a half years of living here I am having to move down to the San Francisco Bay area for a job. I will be leaving on the July 22 ferry heading south.
During my time here many, many people have befriended me. I have had the pleasure of working with many of you on projects that build our community. There is no way that I can spend enough quality time with each one of you who mean so much to me. So, I would like to invite everyone to come see me at the Back Door Café on Friday, July 18, from noon to 2 p.m., and let me buy you a coffee/tea. If I ever get to return to Sitka, you can reciprocate the favor. But honestly, if/when that happens I will be so happy that I won’t need anything else.
