Paul William Johnson

On August 20, 2021, longtime Sitka resident, Paul William Johnson, 72, passed away peacefully at his second home in Nehalem, Oregon. His wife Suzanne, brother Mike, sister Nancy, and their dog, Tuk, were with him.

Paul’s family moved to Anchorage in 1959 and he graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1967.  His father, Kenneth, was the first permanent Postal Inspector in Alaska.

Paul moved to Sitka in 1978 as a young power lineman to work on the Green Lake Dam. Later, he bought the F/V Peril Strait, became a fisherman and found his faith at sea. We miss his quiet presence everyday.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father, Kenneth E. and Grace B. Johnson.  He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Fontenot Johnson, stepson Tim Fontenot and his family, Lindsay, Kai, Tanner and Cooper, of Portland, Oregon; and his brother, Michael Johnson and sister, Nancy Johnson, both of Anchorage.
