Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

March 9

A civil dispute between a landlord and tenant on Monastery Street was reported at 10:31 a.m. Officers spoke to the two.

A church in the 1800 block of HPR said an unknown driver parks there often. Officers located the driver, who said she parks there while visiting a nearby friend.

Officers spoke with a couple having an ongoing dispute over a dog and gave them some options.

A business at the Sawmill Creek Plaza reported having surveillance footage of a hit and run, in which a vehicle door was struck.

At 4:39 p.m. a caller reported hearing what sounded like a shotgun going off near the 600 block of DeGroff. Officers investigated and no one they talked to had heard the noise.

At 6:51 p.m. TSA told police a passenger had throwing stars. Officers advised TSA on the matter.

At 7:03 p.m. a caller reported hearing a woman screaming in the 900 block of HPR. Officers found nothing awry in the area.

A caller said she wanted a man to leave the home. He left while she was on the phone.

At 10:11 p.m. officers checked out a bonfire at Herring Cove and determined no underage drinking was going on.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Wednesday.

 

In Court

Benjamin David Peters, 42, on a Fish and Game charge of commercial fishing violation on  Feb. 27 was fined $2,500 with $1,500 suspended. He was placed on probation for a year.

Oral Alfred Wallace III, 53, on a Dec. 9, 2021, Fish and Game charge of making a false statement or having an omission on a Fish and Game application was fined $1,000 with $250 suspended, and his hunting and fishing license was revoked for a year. He was placed on probation for a year. A second charge of making a false statement or omission on a Fish and Game application was dismissed.
