The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.

March 10

A vehicle that had been parked in a 72-hour parking spot at Sealing Cove for several weeks was tagged as abandoned. Its registration was expired as of May 2017, and its windshield wiper arm was broken.

A vehicle, parked at Sealing Cove, with expired registration as of April 2021, moss on the wheels and debris inside was tagged as abandoned. 

At 8:30 a.m. a large downrigger weight was reported stolen off a boat at Eliason Harbor.

An association reported fraud involving a check. Police are investigating.

At 11 p.m. a vehicle was reported being driven erratically in a Japonski Island parking lot. Officers were advised.

March 11

At 12:11 a.m. fireworks were reported in the Peter Simpson and Indian River roads area.

A man and woman were reported having issues at the Crescent Harbor restrooms. Police gave them a disorderly conduct warning.

At 5:16 p.m. a woman was reported advising a man to be a real Alaskan and jump in the ocean off the 200 block of Harbor Drive. He did so, and was given a disorderly conduct warning.

At 8:06 p.m. a man who had been having issues earlier at Crescent Harbor was reported yelling and being disorderly at ANB Harbor. He received a warning from police.

At 10:03 p.m. fireworks were reported at Harbor Mountain Road and HPR, at 11:27 p.m. fireworks were reported in the 2900 block of SMC.

March 12

At 1:51 a.m. a vehicle with its hood up was reported parking at HPR and Spruce Street. No one was in the area.

At 12:10 p.m. a hit and run was reported in the Hames Center parking lot. Officers found no sign of damage on the vehicle hit.

At 8:33 p.m. a phone was reported stolen from a car parked on Burkhart Drive. A video of the incident was captured, and the theft is under investigation.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday, five on Saturday, and three on Sunday.
