Generous Donation
Dear Editor: Sitkans Against Family Violence would like to thank the following U.S. Coast Guard volunteers for their generous donation of time and energy: Chief Jeremy Norbryhn, Fireman Ryan Ludy, Chief Erin Bohner and his wife Tien Bohner, Chief Timothy Bauer, Chief Christopher Phillips, Chief Travis McGregor, Petty Officer Nichole Napolitano and Petty Officer Michael Miozzi. MCPO Cowart coordinated the group.
They painted a living room, two hallways and our main office and dug trenches for drainage pipes around our building and across our parking lot. Thank you for this great support.

Babies and Books
Dear Editor: The Sitka Babies and Books Committee would like to give recognition and express how grateful we are for the generous contribution from the White Elephant Shop to our organization.
Because of their contribution, we can continue our mission to ensure that all children in Sitka can become lifelong readers. We are able to do this by providing books to children, as well as give parent education and support during the first three years of a child’s life.
The donation we have received from the White Elephant Shop not only helps fund our organization, but they have also given encouragement and support to all the children in our community to gain a passion for reading.

Region V Basketball
Dear Editor: Last week Mt. Edgecumbe High School and Sitka High School co-hosted the Region V 2A-3A-4A Basketball Tournament.
Roughly 623 students from around the Panhandle participated in basketball, cheerleading, dance and pep band. More than 100 students, staff and parents worked together to make this tournament a success! Thank you to all the businesses and volunteers that contributed time and money to help continue making this event the premier high school basketball tournament around Alaska.
Andrew Friske,
Mt. Edgecumbe High School
