Live Monthly Grind
Dear Editor: I would like to applaud and cheer the co-stars and luminaries of the March Sitka Monthly Grind, our 27th season. It was a masterpiece, a gem, and a jewel. Kudos – first in my estimation to the audience. The Sitka audiences are the most supportive, appreciative, and generous people around. You made that show. Every performer, young and old, live or on the screen was sterling. Another star of this show was undoubtedly Jeanne Stolberg. Not just this show, but for the entire pandemic seasons. She produced, filmed and edited, and put them on the Sitka Monthly Grind YouTube Channel, (Google it to see the past shows), all amazing productions. Thank you, Jeanne! She is the brains, glue, backbone, heart and soul for all the productions.
Also a big thank you to the performers for this sold-out show: Nancy Neel and her Uptown Funk in Sitka video; Braveheart Band – Vern Culp, Scott Brylinsky, Charlie Morgan and Alex Carlson; Zak Kirkpatrick with Josh Colosky; SummerFall, a video produced by Jim Shepard and Debby LeVeck; Melinda McAdam’s of the Sitka Studio of Dance video of “A La Merce”; John Straley and Belly Meat – Ted Howard, Ernie Eggleston and Bums; a video by Kray Van Kirk; Yvonne Heitzner video of “Nikiski’s Dance” at the Fortress of the Bears; Mr. Wadsworth (aka C. Litten) of the Parker Bros. Board Game family speaking about the play “Clue” to be produced at the Performing Arts Center March 25, 26, 27 by the Sitka Community Theater; Angel Figueroa and Josh Colosky; the Band ORBE and the Sungazers – Cody Russell, Christian Jensen, Dan Littlefield and Marshall Bovee, closed out the show. Thank you.
These shows do not happen by themselves. Thank you to the stage crew: John Herchenrider, Tom Bacon, Jasmine Shaw, Grace Brooks and Charlie Morgan, Toby Campbell, Melinda McAdams, the Greater Sitka Arts Council, Suzanne Portello setting up the art exhibit, tickets and flyer, and Daniel our Centennial Hall pro.
The Grind is always looking for people to help put the shows on. Let us know if you are interested. See you, hopefully, sometime this September or October for season 28 and into 2023.
