Police Blotter
Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
March 18
At 12:12 p.m. a man was reported behaving erratically at HPR and Marine Street. When officers arrived he was having lunch nearby and was calm.
Vandalism was reported at the public restrooms in the 300 block of Harbor Drive. Graffiti was spraypainted on the walls, police said.
A Motorola phone was turned in.
At 3 p.m. a park ranger reported an adult and juveniles were behaving suspiciously on Metlakatla Street. An officer located the juveniles, who were OK.
At 6:53 p.m. TSA asked to have a firearm verified.
At 10:33 p.m. a woman said a protection order had been violated.
March 19
A caller said a 12-gallon gas tank had been stolen off his Whaler, on Price Street.
A boat was reported dead in the water off the ferry terminal at 2:28 p.m. A Good Samaritan helped it ashore.
A woman was reported yelling in the Indian River area at 6:07 p.m. and 6:42 p.m., and at 7:55 p.m. a welfare check on her was requested. Officers found her at a bus stop and determined she was able to care for herself.
March 20
At 2:12 a.m. a car with its headlights on was reported parked at Sandy Beach for about two hours. A person found sleeping in the car was advised to leave.
At 2:32 a.m. Anna Drive residents complained of loud music. Those making the noise agreed to be quieter.
At 3:49 a.m. and 5:40 a.m. callers complained of a loud party on Darrin Drive. Those at the party agreed to be quieter.
At 9 a.m. neighbors in the 3300 block of HPR were reported having a dispute. Officers advised them of their options.
A black Lab was seen running at large in the area of Anna Drive and SMC. The animal control officer was advised.
A woman whose vehicle was towed from the airport said the vehicle had sustained damage.
At 10:13 p.m. three adults were reported on containers behind a business in the 300 block of Seward Street. Officers told the three to leave.
Sitka Police
Erica Barragan, 35, was arrested Sunday night on three charges of violating conditions of release.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Friday, two on Saturday and two more on Sunday.
At 2:05 p.m. an engine was sent to 4644 HPR where a smoke detector had gone off, but there was no fire.
At 7:39 p.m. Sunday an engine was sent to Eliason Harbor, float 8, on a report of an electric fire. There was no actual fire, but a problem with the electric meter was reported to the harbor master.
