Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

March 22

At 8:47 a.m. the Department of Transportation said a fence at 605 Airport Road had been vandalized, and asked to have the incident documented.

At 9:33 a.m. residents in the 1300 block of SMC complained of the noise made by a neighbor’s van.

At 11:25 a.m. a couple was reported having a dispute over a vehicle. Officers spoke to the two and advised them of options.

At 2:56 p.m. a resident in the 700 block of Etolin reported finding indications of a trespasser. Officers checked the area.

At 10:08 p.m. a caller reported having problems with a teenager, who had run off. Officers found the teen and it was agreed she would remain for the night at the place where she’d been found.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Tuesday.

 

Coast Guard

A helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Sitka was diverted at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday from Juneau to check on an activated emergency locating beacon in Klawock.

It turned out to be from an abandoned floathouse just south of Crab Creek, in Craig, and there was no emergency. The helicopter returned to Sitka around 4:08 p.m., the Coast Guard said.

In another call today, a helicopter crew flew over a grounded tugboat in Neva Strait to document the area of a fuel spill, and returned before 11 a.m.
