The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.

At 7:53 a.m., vehicles were reported sliding and getting stuck in the snow on Kashevaroff Street and Edgecumbe Drive, near Keet Gooshi Heen elementary school. Police and other emergency units responded – including a city snow plow, that also slid at one time – and by around 9 a.m. the area was clear, police said.

At 8:27 a.m. a vehicle was reported stuck in the road on Peterson Avenue and Lake Street. An officer helped get it freed.

At 8:28 a.m. a driver was reported stuck in the road in the 400 block of Lake Street.

At 4 p.m. a driver slid in the 1300 block of SMC, nearly hitting trees, but no injuries or damage resulted.

At 4:14 p.m. a vehicle fishtailed at Baranof and DeGroff streets, and hit a stop sign. No injuries resulted.

At 5:52 p.m. a caller said his vehicle in the 700 block of HPR had just been hit by another vehicle, which left the scene. Police located the driver  who had left, and started a case.

At 7:11 p.m. a vehicle was reported stuck in a snow berm at Wortman Loop and Charteris Street. It was towed to the bottom of a hill.

At 11:27 p.m. a person was reported looking into windows in the 1300 block of SMC. Police made sure the building was secure.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received six ambulance calls Thursday.

David Skultka, 40, was arrested Thursday on a charge of violating conditions of release.
